Sharing Arabic MP3s
I love that alternative non-pop, non-classical, Arabic music is starting to get more and more attention with bands like Mashrou3 Laila getting more and more known thanks to sites like Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, and the 3arabi take on Myspace, Jeeran Music. Please remember you heard all of these bands here first! :)

But now I have to try even harder to find you arabic music like you have never heard before. So here is a unique one, unique even for the singer’s usual style, this is called “Throwing Rocks” by Emel Mathlouthi with haunting electronic vibes

Can anyone recommend some Arabic hiphop along the lines of Asfalt or Dam?
14th-Oct-2009 02:18 am - Y.A.S - Arabology
YAS Pop is a combination of Yasmin Hamdan's amazingness and Mirwais who has done some cool stuff too.

You may have heard Yasmine Hamdan from the great music of Soap Kills. Now she is on this album called Arabology, which has a sort of similar style to soapkills (electro arabic) with a little bit more pop.

Personally, I think she, together with zeid hamdan (the soapkills duo) can rule the world. but Y.A.S is pretty good too. check out these two songs from the album

Y.A.S - YASpop
Y.A.S. Gamil

to be listened to during an evening drive at medium to high volume.
12th-Oct-2009 10:31 pm - Two examples of Morocco talent

trip-hop / r'n'b style to drink with a medium white wine.
OUM - Lik
OUM - Aji

U-CEF / Halalwood [I think this is one of those things where the same person is in more than one band... but i'm not sure]

U-CEF - 1001 Knights: This is a megamix of ghnaweh and 50cent style hiphop lol talk about "fusion"... put two genres of music that, each one on its own makes u feel like dancing all night, in combination together you must make sure not to listen to it sitting down, it might be a health hazard.

Halalwood - Kalzoom: This is an electro remix of um khalthoum. one of my favourite remixes i've heard so far

1st-Mar-2009 06:45 pm - Request!
Hi! I´m just a newbie in arabic music and I´discovered this song in Youtube. It´s O meri munni by Remo. Would there be anyone willing to upload thos song for me? I can´t seem to find it anywhere.

I would appreciate your help! Thanks :)

12th-Feb-2009 07:22 pm(no subject)
I can't share any of the songs because they're nonsharable iTunes downloads, but there are some very pleasing tracks on Baghdad Heavy Metal, which is rock/fusion rather than metal. I downloaded the ones featuring Woroud and Yuri Mkrakadi. The cover art is tasteless and I don't think any of the featured artists are actually from Baghdad--or are even Iraqi--but I am enjoying some of the tracks nonetheless.
4th-Feb-2009 03:29 pm - Instrumentals
Omar khorshid and his Guitar - Takkasim Sanat Alfeyn. Some intrumental music, the guitar accoustics gives it a bit of psychedilic funk, the oud style picking mixes the psychedelic with oriental sounds, very cool overall

Omar khorshid and his Guitar - Laylet Hob is another with the same sort of style

and my favourite of these is Omar khorshid and his Guitar - Lama Bada Yetasama also same sort of style

If you like Omar's music, you'll like this song by Tarek Al Nasser - Ma'aniyeh. classic Nai mixed with electronic guitar.
21st-Jan-2009 01:29 pm - Emel Mathlouthi - Naci en Palestina

I wanted to write something nice about this woman cause I love her music and her style. But I can't really think of anything to say. I'm not a music critic so can't come up with creative sentences about her voice or her powerful lyrics. And when she came to perform in Canada she only went to Montreal and did not bother passing by to say hello to us here in Toronto so I'm a little bitter.

All I know is she's Tunisien and knows how to make good music. From the French that I could understand in her bio, she loves music, plays guitar (as u can make out in her songs), she started working solo in 2002 and since then has colloborated with some of the greats like Marcel Khalife, Cheikh Imam. Her second album I think talks about her experience immigrating to Paris...okay who am I kidding I forgot all my French. I uploaded "Naci en Palestina", my favourite song (Can't help it i'm palestinian). It mixes between French and Arabic lyrics.
Emel Mathlouthi - Naci en Palestina

Add her to ur Facebook fan page and show some love!

I can't decide if I actually like this. It's a rock version of Al-Ayn Mulayyateen.
19th-Jan-2009 07:40 pm - Tania Saleh - Al Jeel al Jadeed
Some soft music, guitar and mellow singing. nicely done
Tania Saleh - Al Jeel al jadeed
23rd-Nov-2008 01:57 am - Belly - History of Violence
Belly is a hip hop artist, born in jenin but moved to Canada since he was a kid. This song, "history of violence" is from his album Revolution that he released in 2006. He'd been making music for years before that, had 3 mixed tapes before this, and wront songs for massari. u know, singing about his bling and what not. His album, Revolution, is split into 2 discs.. History of Violence among other songs on CD1 that are politically charged. CD2, being party songs, about bling and what not.

I haven't listened to CD2. But I do like CD1. I only heard it on youtube so far. if i get it on mp3 in the future i'll be sure to post it.

"For all the people that lost their lives in. Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, anywhere else across the world, this is for you."
27th-Sep-2008 02:46 pm - Fadia - Tourah
perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...
Fadia - Tourah

Does anybody have this nice album by Rim Banna? Or know where to get it?

Thanks in advance

13th-Aug-2008 08:12 pm - Tamr Henna
Hi, does anyone have (or know of) a remix of Tamr Henna? Thanks!
4th-Jul-2008 08:15 pm - Invincible ft. Abeer
People Not Places - Invincible featuring Abeer (Sabreena da witch)

I pre-ordered Invincible's new CD, Shapeshifters, and I just got it in the mail a few days ago (it was released some months ago!). It's true what they say... good things come to those who wait!!! I've been listening to it in the car and love the album. Invincible is a female rapper from Detroit, but not to be compared to Eminem, she's one of those ppl who remind us that hip hop is not dead, its not about bitchez and bling.. people out there are still rhyming about society's injustice.. from detroit to israel-palestine.. with flow.

So I put up this song called "People not places", it's been included as part of Expressions of Nakba art gallery. Word is that there's a remix of this song planned that will feature DAM. So i'll keep a look out.

The arabic part of the song is by Abeer a.k.a Sabreena Da Witch who by the way has a mix tape out.

Hi! I heard this really cool song but I just can't figure out who sings it or anything about it. I keep getting weird results while trying to search for it.

I only heard the song once but I think it might be called "bint al jamaa" as in "college girl" with some lyrics (i might be wrong...) that goes like "bet il le rayah al jamaa" or "bet il le rajaa min al jamaa."

Do any of you know it? Help me figure it out please!

Thank youuu!
4th-Jun-2008 06:59 pm - Some dabkeh beats
As the weather is getting warmer, sunnier and more full of bugs... I have picked a couple of up beat songs to make you feel like dancing. So move it!

Fared Karam - El Tanoora
I know I know... this song is not new and you may be sick of hearing it. But I'll never get sick of it. I'm still waiting for a woman to sing a response to it :)

Jelmawy I don't actually know the name of this song). But.. a rose by any other name... You can't listen to this and not get the urge to shake it!!

Sabah - Marhabtain w marhabtain and a return to the classic! I also uploaded a more recent remake of this masterpiece. If you did not download it already, see this post
6th-Apr-2008 02:59 pm - ideas?
Hi, I'm a dancer and I sometimes work for a restaurant that is EXTREMELY fussy about the music I use. I spent two hours yesterday selecting new music and compiling a performance CD and they disapproved of all but two songs. The restrictions on the music are:
1. If with lyrics or by a well known artist, the music must be from Syria or Lebanon
2.It must be happy-sounding and any lyrics must be happy (bittersweet is not good enough)
3.It should be as fast as possible
4.If by a well known artist, the music must have been released in the last two years, preferably sooner
5.No classical music, although fast classical remixes are okay. I can sometimes get away with remixed Egyptian classical, despite rule 1.
The main complaint lately has been that my songs (Haifa, Nancy, Nawal al Zoughbi, Solace, remixed Um Kulthum, Najwa Karam, Khaled Aggag, Pascale Machaalani) are not happy and fast enough. I'm currently resisting the temptation to find some Syrian speed metal--maybe that would appease their desire for stupidly fast music?
Does anyone have ideas? It doesn't have to be bellydance music (the "no classical" rule took care of that)--I've been desperate enough to use debke and techno and they didn't object. Fast pop remixes, fast classical remixes, or fast techno/electronica are probably what they want. Thanks!
2nd-Apr-2008 08:21 pm(no subject)
Ello. I'm currently stuck with something. I really really like somber arabic music, like Oren Chen ballads (I guess you could call them), but with a female singer. Anyone have any ideas?
31st-Mar-2008 11:04 pm - Il zou3ama fallou min Lubnan
I can't remember where I got this song and I only hope I didn't upload it before :D

3rd-Feb-2008 08:49 pm(no subject)
Here's some dancey instrumental stuff... trance..ambient...whatever it is people call it. It's on Buddha Bar iv disc2.
Dan Lacksman's Alliance - Louxor In Vegas

Buddha Bar
"Louxor In Vegas sets an Arabic atmosphere, starting off with a solo piece on the qanun (sort of like an Egyptian harp procuding sounds similar to those heard on Cafe Europa). The song then continues on with the addition of a techno beat accompanied by synthesizers, and the nay or mijwiz (Persion reed pipe). Louxour In Vegas (orginally appearing on 'Egypt', 1999 by Dan Lacksman's Alliance) composed by Dan Lacksman, co-producer and mixer of the first Deep Forest album..."

Here's a song by Dam. http://www.box.net/shared/g12tn2rs48
i like when they bring up "7urriet il untha il bkalabshat". word

If i knew how to remix sounds, or if i had a lot of time on my hands, i'd probably add a 30 or 45 second intro to this song that is collection of radio station recordings where callers are dedicating songs to their cousins, their cousins cousins, and their cousins and of course to the DJ.
28th-Dec-2007 12:43 pm - Wast el Balad - Anteeka
Sometimes I worry that I'm uploading the same songs over and over again. My only hope is that they are so good that they are worth repeating :)

So here's a nice song from Egypt by wast el balad.

Their music is described on the website as "an amazing blend of sounds, combines traditional Arabic Music with Modern and Western Twist, trying to make their music as accessible as possible - not just in Cairo but far beyond."

I have praised them before, here and here. And I do it again here :)

This song is called Anteeka. It's an arabic song that has (from what I could hear..) arabic drums, classical guitar, and I think a few strings of oud. very upbeat!

27th-Oct-2007 09:01 pm - Arabic Music -- in English ;0)
Thanks to lazywithtaste for providing us with the best music :)

First off, I present to you: LUmi
Description from From indycult.com indypedia:
Marc Codsi and Mayaline Hage worked together in different projects. First in free improvised music where they collaborated with many artists, and in an experimental rock band called Scrambled eggs where Marc plays guitar. Then came the idea of doing music that incorporates those influences, but with a different approach giving more place to composition and song writing. The objective was to present something that is interesting musically yet accessible to all. LUmi started to work in January 05 and did their first live appearance in August of that year breaking new grounds on the Lebanese electronic scene.

Mayaline Hage: Vocals & Writing
Marc Codsi: Music

The No Wave, Post Rock & Punk scene, Electroclash, Pop trash, and David Lynch.

Listen to:
Don't Fuck With My Cat MP3

next up.. The New Government, The Kordz and Blend.

But I'm too tired to continue for today :)

14th-Oct-2007 09:55 am - Khalas
Someone was looking for some more Khalas songs so I'll post what I found:

Khalas - el malek 3aryan

Khalas - nowsl el janneh

this song i'm not sure who sings it or what it's called. I found it on my computer and must have downloaded it months ago. But it sounds exactly like Khalas!
10th-Oct-2007 09:37 pm - zahrat il mada2in
mm okay I forgot who is singing this one, well, it's not Fairuz I'm sure of that much. Nice try.

8th-Oct-2007 12:06 am - Erbit Ten7al - Barbie girl
I have no idea how the singers of this song were able to sing the whole thing without laughing.
Barbie Girl - Erbit Ten7al.
oh warning, make sure the volume is turned down cause their voices are really annoying and the poor sound quality makes it even worse.

bonus: Erbit ten7al sing 3al huwwara: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxdirpi8qOc
30th-Sep-2007 07:07 pm - Before you post

If you're looking for Amr Diab, Haifa, .. etc, you are in the wrong place, try www.demna.com instead.
30th-Sep-2007 07:01 pm - Sagr lubnan (hassan nasralla!)
This song came out last summer, (i dunno, maybe earlier. but that was when i heard it.). there's an entire CD of this stuff floating around somewhere. Great for political discontent, or for dabkeh. whatever mood you are in.

This remix is.. erm.. let's call it a good try :) It's fun to dance to, the DJ tried to turn it into something like a hip-hop song. At the very least, it's an interesting effort, worth the mention.

Imad Helo - 3ala mahlak ya galbi remix by DJ Lello MP3
16th-Sep-2007 04:23 pm - Wallaat - Hob 3al Hajiz

15th-Sep-2007 05:33 pm - More Music
I lost the song "Cleopatra in NY" for about a year because I misspelt it when I uploaded it to my computer. D'oh! Now I've found it and to celebrate, I shall share it:
This is also chillout, but less dark than the Solace track in my last post.
13th-Sep-2007 04:05 pm(no subject)

Does anyone have any Khalas besides Inta Omri? Or know where I can buy their stuff? I'm in England and they aren't on amazon UK.
I'm also looking for Arabic tango. I have one song by Intervention Divine and one by Soapkills, but that's it.
And in return, here's "Blood Oil Gold" by Solace. I'd classify it as Arabic chillout, I suppose.

5th-Aug-2007 10:00 pm - Ramallah underground - Min il kahef
